Well begin with the best hockey action figures McFarlane Toys has ever created -- and what "best of" list doesnt feature The Great One, Wayne Gretzky? No "best of" list we want any part of! The old Oilers jersey, the signature Gretzky Jofa helmet, and the attention to detail on his face all make this figure a "great one."The goaltender position is our personal favourite for the figures because we love the detail McFarlane puts in to the pads and masks. The Dominik Hasek figure is a specifically cool looking toy because hes been created in the typical stance Hasek always took before flopping and slithering around the crease.Next on the list is another goalie -- Patrick Roy himself. The positioning of Roy mid-save is really cool, along with the detail in his helmet design... although we wouldnt mind seeing a Montreal Canadiens version.Sergei Fedorov is known for his unique style of play with the Detroit Red Wings, but we tip our hats to the creative team making this toy for finding an excuse to paint the incredible Mighty Ducks of Anaheim jersey on this figure! Fedorov only played with the Mighty Ducks for two seasons, but this is magnificent. This next figure embodies everything that Alexander Ovechkin represents... just look at it!And to round out our best of, weve got Darryl Sittler rocking the old school Maple Leafs jersey with some great flow coming out the sides and back of his helmet. Hes even a beauty in action figure form! And now for the worst... the "why did you even make action figures of these players" list, starting with goaltender Dan Cloutier. In the thick of Cloutiers three impressive seasons in Vancouver, McFarlane toys decided to cash in on the goaltenders success... only to watch him fall out of favour with Canucks management after a series of injuries, a lack of playoff success, and a weak goal let in during a 2002 playoff game against the Detroit Red Wings that has seemed to define his career. We love Tie Domi, and think he is semi-deserving of an action figure, but this specific pose is unacceptable for a player of Domis likeness. First of all, hes skating. Second of all, his gloves are still on. And third, his fists arent in the air waiting to fight an opponent! McFarlane really dropped the ball on this one!We would have also accepted a figure of a fan falling into the penalty box with Domi, but we digress...The inconsistency of Andrew Raycroft is something Toronto Maple Leafs fans are familiar with, who is next on our worst hockey action figure list. We can see why the figurine was made, as Raycroft was an up and coming stud in the NHL, but his career never fully panned out as he floated from team to team before heading to Europe. We hate to keep picking on former Maple Leafs goaltenders, but the player who played side-by-side with Raycroft is the next action figure choice were pondering -- Vesa Toskala. All we really need to mention is Rob Davisons attempt to clear the puck out of his defensive zone and it bouncing over Toskalas glove and into the net to justify us putting this hockey action figure on our worst of list. Does that play deserve an action figure? We think not!Patrick Lalime was a fine starting goaltender who could be argued as a star, but Joe Nieuwendyk discovered Lalimes five-hole one faithful evening and unfortunately thats the entire reason he probably didnt deserve this action figure. Maybe its fitting hes just drinking water in the figurine. And finally, at one point we would have argued Jonathan Cheechoo fully deserved a figurine made of him, but after his 56 goal season in 2005-06 his production numbers began to fall drastically. Perhaps hell make a triumphant return and prove us wrong, but we arent going to bet the house on it.All the photos used in this post were taken from the McFarlane Sports Picks Hockey page. Peter Holland and Joffrey Lupul tallied early in the second to complete the burst and David Clarkson added a late marker for the Maple Leafs, who have won five of their last seven. Daniel Sedin and Christopher Tanev provided offense for the Canucks, who had recorded road wins against Pittsburgh and Washington but fell to 3-2 on their seven-game road trip. Ryan Miller was pulled after giving up four goals on 14 shots in almost 26 minutes. Eddie Lack finished up by halting all 13 Toronto chances for the remainder of the contest. Vancouver halved its deficit at 8:45 of the third period, when Tanevs deflection of a Linden Vey offering slid behind Bernier for a 4-2 game. The Canucks then hit two posts in the opening seconds of a power play after Panik was booked for interference and continued to buzz Bernier in hopes of getting back to a one-goal spread, but failed to score. Lack was pulled for an extra attacker with just over 2 1/2 minutes remaining before Clarkson hit the empty net a short time later to seal the outcome.dddddddddddd The Leafs opened the scoring at 15:47 of the first period. Gardiners quick pass from the right-wing boards, intended for Holland, instead changed direction off a Vancouver player and got past Miller. Panik doubled the margin less than a minute later, using a stick fake to draw a Canucks defenseman and Miller out of position before sliding a backhander home. Holland struck to make it 3-0 for the Leafs, beating Miller high over the right shoulder from the left circle at 4:16 of the second. Toronto went up by four on Lupuls marker only 1:23 later. Daniel Sedin got one back for the Canucks with 4:39 to play in the stanza with an assist from brother Henrik.
